No-Touch (TRANS-PRK) is a surface treatment in which the cornea is reshaped with no incision and no flap – the laser does all the work and no instrument touches the eye. It corrects nearsightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism, and suits those between 20 and 45, particularly with thin corneas or larger refractive errors.
No-Touch (TRANS-PRK) is an advanced laser treatment that reshapes the surface of the cornea. The Alcon WaveLight EX500 excimer laser first removes the outermost cell layer of the cornea, the epithelium, and then sculpts the middle layer, the stroma, removing exactly the amount of tissue that corresponds to your refractive error. The laser does all of it – no instrument touches the eye.
Because no flap is created and no incision is made in the cornea, flap-related complications cannot occur, either during the procedure or later in life. That makes the method particularly suitable if you have thinner corneas, or if your work or leisure exposes your eyes to impact.
No-Touch needs a slightly longer recovery than FS-LASIK and SMILE Pro, but shorter than LASEK. The final result is equally good whichever method is used – an equivalent destination, but a different journey and a different risk profile. Which method we recommend is driven by corneal anatomy, your occupation, dry eye status, the size of the refractive error and how much recovery time you can tolerate, rather than by the final visual acuity you can expect. We decide that together at the free pre-examination.

The first follow-up is about 14 days after the procedure, and visual acuity has usually stabilised completely after three months.

We measure the thickness and shape of your cornea at the free pre-examination, and only then can we say what is possible for your eyes.
Both are surface treatments with no flap, and the difference is how the epithelium is removed. With No-Touch the excimer laser removes it in the same step as it corrects the refractive error. With LASEK it is loosened with a mild alcohol solution and moved aside.
No-Touch normally heals slightly faster of the two. Which one we propose depends on your measurements and on the condition of your cornea.

During the examination, we measure your vision problem and map your eye. After analyzing the results, we will go through them with you. If treatment is possible, we will schedule an appointment for it.
We treat your vision impairment. Based on your individual condition, the treatment that is most suitable for you will be performed.
We will follow up with you regularly; after one week, three months, and one year, to monitor the treatment you received with us.
Before your No-Touch (TRANS-PRK) treatment, you will undergo a thorough pre-examination with our specialist optometrist. We take anatomical measurements of the cornea and carry out a comprehensive eye examination, and we map out your visual needs and individual visual requirements.
Based on those measurements, we tailor the treatment that best suits your eyes. If the cornea is too thin or the refractive error too large for FS-LASIK or SMILE Pro, No-Touch is often the better choice.
You will also meet your personal patient coordinator, who will give you more information about the treatment and about our 6-year Peace of Mind Guarantee, which is included. The guarantee covers the refractive correction: if a refractive error remains or develops after your first treatment, we offer additional treatment at no extra cost within six years. It does not cover the investigation or treatment of other eye conditions, such as dry eye or vitreous floaters.
