ICL and IPCL are phakic lens implants for myopia and astigmatism. Your natural lens is retained and no corneal tissue is removed. At a free assessment we examine your eyes and discuss suitability, lens choice, expected results and risks.
ICL and IPCL are phakic lenses: an additional lens is placed behind the iris and in front of your natural lens, which is retained. At X-Vision we use ICL (Implantable Collamer Lens) from STAAR Surgical and IPCL (Implantable Phakic Contact Lens) from Care Group. The products differ in material, design and available models. Lens selection is individual and based on measurements, eye anatomy and visual needs.
No corneal tissue is removed. Treatment may be an option for high myopia or when SMILE Pro or FS-LASIK is unsuitable. Thin corneas or dry eyes do not automatically make someone suitable for a phakic lens; these conditions also need assessment.

The implant can be removed or exchanged if needed. This requires another operation with its own risks and does not guarantee that the eye or vision will return exactly to its previous state.

Suitability is assessed individually. We assess refractive stability, eye anatomy, anterior chamber depth, corneal endothelial cells, eye pressure and retina. High myopia or a thin cornea may make treatment relevant, but does not automatically mean it is suitable.
ICL or IPCL adds a lens while retaining your natural lens. Laser eye surgery reshapes the cornea. RLE replaces the natural lens. The methods have different benefits and risks; selection follows an individual examination.
Phakic lenses can correct myopia. A suitable toric lens can also correct astigmatism. Options depend on the lens model, available powers and eye measurements. Glasses may still be needed.
Surgery is performed with local anaesthesia. You may experience pressure or discomfort, and experiences vary. Increasing pain after surgery should not simply be considered normal healing; contact the clinic immediately.
Vision may improve early but can be blurred or fluctuate initially. Recovery and stabilisation vary. Follow the instructions for drops, activity and follow-up. Driving depends on your vision and individual assessment.
The implant is intended to remain in the eye long term. It can be removed or exchanged if needed, but this requires another operation with its own risks. It does not guarantee that the eye or vision will return exactly to its previous state. Your natural lens can still develop presbyopia and cataract. Regular long-term examinations are necessary.
Possible symptoms include glare, halos, blurred vision and residual refractive error. Light-related symptoms can persist. Risks include raised eye pressure, cataract, loss of corneal endothelial cells, inflammation, infection and the need to reposition, exchange or remove the implant. Serious complications can permanently affect vision. Your ophthalmologist discusses your individual risks and follow-up plan.

During the examination, we measure your vision problem and map your eye. After analyzing the results, we will go through them with you. If treatment is possible, we will schedule an appointment for it.
We treat your vision impairment. Based on your individual condition, the treatment that is most suitable for you will be performed.
We will follow up with you regularly; after one week, three months, and one year, to monitor the treatment you received with us.
Before treatment, you have a detailed assessment. We measure your refractive error and assess anterior chamber depth, corneal endothelial cells, eye pressure and retina. The ophthalmologist assesses suitability and discusses lens selection, alternatives, expected results and risks with you.
Lens power and size are selected from your measurements. Toric lenses can correct astigmatism when appropriate.
Your personal patient coordinator guides you through the process and explains our six-year guarantee. It covers refractive correction: if a refractive error remains or develops after the first treatment, we offer additional treatment at no extra cost within six years. It does not cover assessment or treatment of other eye conditions, such as dry eyes or vitreous floaters.

Follow your prescribed eye-drop treatment and individual instructions for hygiene, activity and follow-up. Lubricating drops do not replace other prescribed treatment. Avoid rubbing your eyes. Return to work, exercise and driving depends on your vision and healing.
Contact the clinic immediately for increasing pain, marked redness, worsening vision, or headache with nausea and eye symptoms. New flashes, many new floaters or a shadow in your vision need urgent assessment. If you cannot reach the clinic, seek emergency eye care.
Follow-up visits check vision, eye pressure and implant position. Regular long-term eye examinations remain necessary; your follow-up plan is individual.
